Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement

Arts & Technologies (published by RDM Records both in the continuous digital edition ElectroAcoustics Magazine and in print volumes) is a scientific-cultural publication and research hub dedicated to exploring the epistemological intersection between scientific inquiry, aesthetics, and sonic/audio-visual languages. To ensure maximum intellectual rigor, research independence, and analytical transparency, the journal adheres to the core ethical principles defined by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) and international guidelines for best practices in academic publishing.

1. Philosophical Foundations and Editorial Manifesto

Our ethical policy is rooted in the principles defined in our Editorial Manifesto, «Research around Sound and Technologies». The journal promotes rigorous research detached from purely commercial or entertainment-driven agendas, focusing on the heuristic and speculative value of sonic and technological art. Expressive independence and theoretical radicalism are safeguarded through neutral evaluation processes designed solely to verify methodological soundness, analytical accuracy, and the originality of sources.

2. Duties of the Editorial Management

Publication decisions: The Editor-in-Chief and the editorial team hold sole responsibility for deciding which submitted articles will be published, based strictly on scientific merit, originality, and relevance to the journal’s scope.
Impartiality and fairness: Submitted manuscripts are evaluated without regard to the author’s race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, citizenship, or academic and political affiliations.
Confidentiality: The editorial team and committee members commit to not disclosing any information regarding a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, designated peer reviewers, and the publisher.
Conflicts of interest: Unpublished materials contained in a submitted manuscript will not be used in the personal research of the Editor, editors, or reviewers without the express written consent of the author.

3. Duties of Reviewers

Contribution to editorial decisions: Peer review assists the editorial management in making informed decisions and provides authors with constructive feedback to refine their work.
Promptness: Any selected reviewer who feels unqualified for evaluation or knows that prompt review will be impossible must notify the editorial team immediately and decline the assignment.
Objectivity and confidentiality: Reviews must be conducted objectively with scientific rigor, supported by clear and documented arguments. All manuscripts received for review are treated as strictly confidential documents.

4. Duties of Authors

Originality and plagiarism: Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original and that all sources or citations are properly accredited. Plagiarism in any form constitutes unethical and unacceptable publishing behavior.
Multiple or concurrent publications: Authors must not submit or publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication outlet.
Authorship of the work: Authorship of the manuscript should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study.

5. Peer-Review Process

All essays submitted to the scientific section undergo a double-blind peer review process: the identity of the author is withheld from the reviewers, and vice versa. Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two independent members of the Scientific Committee or qualified external reviewers, who assess its methodological rigor, clarity of exposition, and original contribution to the field.

6. Allegations of Misconduct, Errors, and Plagiarism

The editorial management maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding plagiarism, data falsification, and redundant publication. If misconduct is alleged or identified prior to or following publication, the editorial team will initiate a formal investigation adhering to COPE protocols and flowcharts. In cases of proven misconduct, the journal reserves the right to reject the manuscript, issue formal corrections, or proceed with an official retraction.

7. Copyright & Open Access Policy

Arts & Technologies / ElectroAcoustics Magazine provides immediate open access to all its scientific content, in accordance with the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) definition of open access. All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license. Authors retain full copyright over their work without restrictions.

8. Digital Archiving and Preservation

To guarantee long-term preservation and permanent access to published essays, the journal deposits digital copies of all articles into secure digital repositories (including Zenodo) and maintains a permanent record within the RDM Records digital historical archive.
