Originally established in memory of the legendary vocal experimenter Demetrio Stratos and promoted by the MM&T Foundation, the historic 2005 jury—presided over by Stratos' wife Daniela Ronconi and composed of avant-garde pioneers Patrizio Fariselli, Gerd Rische, Walter Prati, and Claudio Chianura—awarded the international prize for emerging research to the twenty-five-year-old Neapolitan vocalist and composer Romina Daniele.
