Published on the occasion of the Voci di Tenebra Azzurra Festival in Faenza, this comprehensive feature interview by Paola Gabrielli for Corriere di Bologna explores Romina Daniele’s multi-disciplinary background across classical dance, photography, and cinema.

Entitled 'Improvisando penso a Demetrio Stratos' [Improvising, I think of Demetrio Stratos], the discussion provides a rare musicological preview of her upcoming masterwork, Aisthànomai: Il dramma della coscienza. Daniele details the dual structural pillars of her vocal method—balancing strict compositional architecture and intellectual rigor with absolute, real-time vocal improvisation—while reflecting on the profound, dream-like impact of her international Stratos Prize victory on her continuous sonic research.

Subhead: The singer, award-winner in 2005, at the festival in Faenza

"FAENZA — Absolute vocal improvisation, electronic processing in real time, and musicological research. This is the mixed territory, open to the most extreme experimentation, in which twenty-seven-year-old Romina Daniele moves. Born in Naples, she lives in Milan, where she arrived to study at the Civic Schools, arriving from a background that goes from classical dance to photography and cinema.

Tonight she will be at the Masini Theater in Faenza (at 9 PM) inside the review 'Voci di Tenebra Azzurra'[Voices of Azure Darkness], organized by the MM&T Association, Area Sismica, and the Municipality. Daniele has a special bond with this review: in 2005 she won the Demetrio Stratos International Award for musical experimentation.

'Winning that award,' explains the artist, 'was a dream. Stratos represents a fundamental point of reference for me. His research on the voice as an instrument, capable of freeing itself from the word to express the unexpressed, is close to my work.' > For Daniele, the voice is an autonomous instrument. 'My performances,'she continues, 'are born from a path where fifty percent is structured composition and the other fifty percent is pure improvisation. I try to explore the vocal technical possibilities, from the lowest sounds to the highest, using electronics to multiply and transform the sound in real time.' Tonight, she will present a preview of pieces from her next recording project, 'Aisthànomai', a work centered on the concept of consciousness."
