"Let's start from the end: imagine you are on a sea cliff… you can slip or try to fly, charmed by a siren's call… but the mental magnet is roaming. The complexity of the work of Romina Daniele is based on her fine vocal research, a way of using the voice as an instrument, driven by an absolute and singular mastery. It presents a peculiar combination of different disciplines including theater, philosophy, aesthetics, and electronics used like a cinematic soundtrack. Aisthànomai—the Greek term that means 'to perceive, to understand'—with its accompanying essay and its multifaceted directions, can be seen as a real opera of avant-garde theater.
Romina Daniele puts herself in front of the audience, stimulating it and producing a thrilling and charming sound with vocals that create dark, shining atmospheres, throwing the listener into a 'lyrics-voice-music' spiral that obliges us to confront ourselves. 'Retro' and 'Post' are two mannequins which have been taken and beaten; it would be misleading to engage in too many simplistic descriptions, but what is clear is that when the match ends, we find ourselves disoriented.
The vocal control is technically remarkable concerning the vocal timbres and the expressive act that we can imagine just by the sounds. Versatile tracks like 'Sguardo (take2)' display an incredible characterization, while 'Poesis I' recalls dense, cinematic landscapes. The musical atmosphere moves through industrial-ambient spaces that enter an unclear essence which can be witnessed by eyes not yet ready for light, creating endless mutating moods. Aisthànomai is a great opera of direction, life, and drama, asking the audience to take up the challenge and stay until the end. Whispers and screams."
